Training Programmes

The Karigar Shala Training Programme is a learning initiative mentored by Kiran Vaghela. It connects academic understanding with hands-on making. Through direct engagement with materials, tools, and construction processes, participants explore the relationship between design, craftsmanship, and sustainability. The programme encourages observation, experimentation, and collaborative exchange, creating a space for meaningful learning beyond the classroom. By experiencing the process of making from concept to execution, participants develop practical knowledge, critical thinking, teamwork, and a deeper appreciation of material intelligence and context-based building practices.

  • This three-day workshop introduces Stabilised Earth Technology through material exploration, technical understanding, and hands-on construction. Participants will learn techniques such as CSEB and Stabilised Rammed Earth. Rooted in experiential learning, the workshop develops practical skills, teamwork, and critical thinking while fostering a deeper understanding of sustainable and context-responsive building practices.

  • This workshop offers an immersive introduction to unstabilised earth construction through hands-on learning and material exploration. Participants develop an understanding of soil as a primary building material. Through techniques such as adobe and wattle & daub, the programme encourages direct engagement with earth. Rooted in experiential learning, participants explore while developing practical skills and material sensitivity.

Participants are introduced to lime as a traditional building material. Rooted in experiential learning, participants explore while developing practical skills and material sensitivity.

  • This three-day wood training programme offers an introduction to woodworking. Participants gain an understanding of wood as a material, including its sourcing, behaviour, and preparation. Through guided demonstrations and collaborative exercises, the programme encourages participants to think through the making process while developing practical skills.

  • We encourage participants to pay in advance, as workshop registration will be confirmed only once payment is received.

  • Yes, registrations may be available until the day before the workshop, subject to seat availability. As seats are limited, registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • We do not provide accommodation directly. However, we can assist participants in arranging nearby accommodation on request.

  • Transportation will be the responsibility of the participants. However, vehicle arrangements can be organised on request. Additional charges may apply, depending on the number of participants and vehicle requirements.

  • The workshop is mentored by Kiran Vaghela. The training sessions are delivered by a team of technical professionals and experienced master artisans.

  • No prior experience is required. The workshop is suitable for both beginners and professionals. But readiness on working with hands will elevate your training experience

  • Yes, participants will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the training programme.

  • Yes, customised training programmes and institutional workshops can be organised to meet specific requirements.

  • Cancellation is permitted for the first 24 hours from sign-up after receiving a formal mail from the applicant stating the reason for cancellation. Refund process may take upto 5-7 business days.

  • While we would hate to be in a position to cancel, should Karigar Shala Trust have to cancel the training programme due to unforeseen circumstances or lack of minimum number of participants a full refund or an option for an alternate date will be provided to the applicants.

    Refunds will be issued within 5-7 working days.

  • You may reach out over mail should you wish to reschedule your dates. Rescheduling is possible for the first 72 hours from sign up at the discretion of the management team and slot availability.

  • The training facility is equipped with basic first aid kits. Applicants may provide an emergency contact at the time of reporting for the training.

  • A detailed itinerary and list of activities will be provided along with the confirmation mail. Rest assured be prepared to get your hands dirty.
