Network Organizations and Individuals

Karigar Shala was originally launched as an educational programme within the Hunnarshala Foundation. Over time, it became apparent that it had the potential to grow into an independent organisation. With ongoing support from Hunnarshala, including funding, infrastructure, and a shared vision, Karigar Shala evolved into a registered Trust. This transition allowed for greater involvement, expanded its vision, and promoted progress towards shared goals.

Our work is expanding through active collaborations with educational institutions such as IPSA Rajkot, the National Institute of Design, and Puvidham. With Hunnar Gurukul, we have shared our vision, been involved from the beginning, and contributed to developing their curriculum and staff training programmes. We organise workshops and shared platforms to foster cooperation between students and artisans, enabling them to exchange knowledge, broaden their horizons, and continue building traditions in contemporary contexts.

We also value our partnerships with social organisations such as Kutch Mahila Vikas Sangathan, Sarvodaya Parivar Trust, Muskaan Bhopal, Gram Swaraj Sangh, and Samrakshan. These collaborations help us engage more deeply with communities, develop livelihood opportunities, and foster collective well-being.

Alongside institutions and social organisations, we collaborate with individual studios and collectives, including Studio Dot, Thumb Impression, Sankalan, and Dustudio. These partnerships provide students with valuable internship and placement opportunities, creating spaces where artisans and designers can work together and develop their skills.

This network of organisations forms the core of Karigar Shala. Through trust-based relationships, mutual learning, and a shared vision, we continue to nurture and develop craft traditions, helping communities shape a sustainable future.
